The TSCHE will come into effect from 02nd June 2014, the appointed day of Telangana State. The order issued by the department of higher education has appointed the vice chancellors of Osmania University, Kakatiya University, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Telangana University, Mahatma Gandhi University, Palamuru University and Satavahana University as council members. The Telangana Education Minister, G. Jagadish Reddy, said that the Telangana government would now conduct its own counselling as it has its own State Council of Higher Education.
